You must create a virtual machine to host the IBM® Security Privileged Identity Manager.
Procedure
- Download the ispim_*.iso build.
- Create a virtual machine on ESXi 5.x.
- Select Custom.
- Provide a name for the virtual machine.
- Choose the destination storage for this virtual machine.
- Set virtual machine version to 8.
- Set the guest operating system to Linux.
Under Version, select Other 2.6.x
Linux (64-bit).
- Enter the number of virtual sockets and cores per virtual
sockets for the virtual machine. For example: 4 cores.
- Enter the memory size. For
example: 16 GB.
- Set E1000 for the network adapter.
- Set the SCSI controller type to LSI Logic
Parallel.
- Select the Create a new virtual disk option
as the type of disk to use.
- Enter the disk size for virtual machine. For example: 60 GB.
- Accept the default settings in the Advanced
Options page.
- Select Edit the virtual machine
settings before completion.
- Click Add... in
the Virtual Machine Properties page.
- Select USB Controller as
the device type.
- Select EHCI+UHCI as
the controller type.
Note: Virtual appliance supports USB
2.0 and USB 1.1 only.
- Click Finish on
the Add Hardware page.
- Click Finish on the Virtual
Machine Properties page.
- Mount the IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager media.
- Right-click on virtual machine that you created, and
then select Edit Settings.
- Under Hardware, choose CD/DVD
drive 1.
- Browse for the location of the .iso file
that is uploaded in the data store.
- Select Connect at power on.
- Click OK
- Click Power on the virtual machine.
