You define a rule project to develop the contents of a
ruleset, corresponding to a decision.
Overview: Rule projects and rulesets
To design a business rule application, you create a rule
project in Rule
Designer and
then export a ruleset to execute the rules.
Rule projects
To develop a business rule application with Rule
Designer,
you create a rule project that contains rule artifacts, Business Object
Model (BOM), vocabulary, and reference to the execution object model
(XOM).
Setting up a rule project
The first step in rule application design is to create
a rule project, either from scratch or by using a template. You can
then set up the rule project structure, add rule packages, and make
your application more modular. You can create the XOM from a Java™ or XML model.
Exploring a rule project
You use the Rule Explorer to view the contents of a rule
project. You open the Rule Explorer in the rule perspective.
Creating ruleset parameters
You use ruleset parameters in your rule project to exchange
data between rulesets and the application.
Choosing a build mode
To optimize rule execution, you can choose between the
classic rule engine or the decision engine.
Extracting rules for a ruleset
If you do not want to execute all the rules of a project,
you can select the artifacts you want to include in the ruleset and
you can create a validator for an extractor.
