Changing the default behavior of the execution stack

You can modify the values of various Execution Unit properties or parameters that affect the execution stack.

Enabling JDK logging
You can set a configuration property to enable JDK logging.
Configuring the execution unit (XU) to send event messages
Rule Execution Server can execute a ruleset that emits business events. Rule Execution Server uses a customized execution unit (XU) and the Java™ Message Service (JMS) to send event messages that can be processed by Decision Server Events.
Changing the trace level
You can change the type of information that is reported in the execution trace returned by the Execution Unit (XU).
Turning on the trace autoflush
You can set the Execution Unit (XU) to flush the execution trace log automatically using the traceAutoFlush property.
Disabling profiling
You can set a configuration property to disable the Execution Unit (XU) profiling.
Retrieving the XU memory usage
You can use the execution unit (XU) memory profiler to learn how much memory the execution unit uses for a ruleset.
Managing the XU timeout policy
You can set the maxIdleTime property to define how long a ruleset is kept in memory even if it is not used.
Customizing the ruleset cache
Using the XU ruleset API, you can customize the ruleset cache by writing your own implementation class and modifying the XU deployment descriptor accordingly.
Setting up ruleset parsing
You can set a configuration property to block the execution of a ruleset while waiting for a new version of the ruleset.
Changing persistence parameters
You can change the persistence type for the ruleset repository and, if you have set up Java XOM management, the persistence properties for the XOM repository. The persistence must be set to the same type in both the console and the Execution Unit (XU) archive.
Changing connection pool settings in Java SE
On Java SE, you change the parameters of the XU ConnectionManager in the ra.xml deployment descriptor.
Activating the XU MBean in Java SE
In Java SE, you must activate the XU MBean to retrieve execution statistics and notify ruleset updates.
