Preparing mail files for transfer

Before you onboard users with transferred mail files, complete the following tasks to prepare the mail files on-premises. Complete these tasks regardless of whether you will use the self-service Mail Onboarding Manager tool or work with an IBM® partner.

Note:

The size limit for mail files in the cloud is 50 GB. If any on-premises mail files exceed this size, reduce the size to within this limit. Or, use selective transfer to transfer a subset of the content only that is within the limit.
Mail file folders with a type set to private rather than shared (the default type) are not transferred to the service. This limitation applies only to the private folders themselves. The messages within the folders are transferred, and they are visible in the All Documents view in the mail file.
