Lesson 4: Administer a workflow

In this lesson, examine the active workflow as a workflow administrator.

To provide more work items for you to examine, go back to step 2 in lesson 3 and launch the workflow several times and enter different data for each instance.

To examine and administer active workflows:

  1. Find all running workflows. For more information, see Retrieving work items and the search example Currently running work items.
  2. In Process Administrator, click Find Now to see a list of the running workflows. These workflows are running in the workflow system server and are using the default roster.
  3. If there are several active workflows, complete the following steps to find the CarLoanApplication workflow and examine the values of the data fields:
    1. Search for work items as indicated by the following table:
      Search result type Work items
      Workflow structure Workflow roster
      Workflow structure name DefaultRoster
      Search mode Editable
Search Filter: General Criteria F_Subject (String) like Car% (The % is a wildcard for the search.)
    2. View the search results. There is probably only one item. Scroll to the right to see all of the system fields and the fields that you exposed on the Credit queue. You can see the values that you entered for the ApplicantName, CreditScore, DownPayment, and so on.

As an administrator, you can lock the work item, change the data field values, assign a step to another user, or terminate the workflow.
