Managing replication groups

Replication is the process of copying and distributing data and objects from a Content Platform Engine object store to a FileNet® Image Services repository while synchronizing between these systems to maintain consistency.

Before you can replicate, you must define a replication group. A replication group associates an object store with an external repository. An external repository is a repository object which has an associated fixed content device. There can be only one external repository associated with each fixed content device. External repositories are used to define replication groups.

You can describe the replication direction for data synchronization. If you select Both, data and objects are synchronized in both directions and the index catalog on both the Content Platform Engine and FileNet Image Services match. For Inbound and Outbound options, the direction of synchronization is relative to the Content Platform Engine. The Inbound option is relative to data and properties coming into the Content Platform Engine, while the Outbound option is relative to data and properties leaving Content Platform Engine.

After you define one or more replication groups, you can map a Content Platform Engine document class to a FileNet Image Services document class. You can select a replication direction of Inbound, Outbound or Both.

After you have mapped a document class within a replication group, you can map specific properties of the content platform engine document class to properties of the FileNet Image Services document class. See Document property mapping between FileNet Image Services and Content Engine for more information.
