Opening a policy sweep

A policy sweep processes the objects in a database table in an ongoing manner. In terms of implementation, a policy sweep consists of two main components: a policy component and a sweep component. Policies subscribe to sweeps in a many-to-one relationship: many policy components might share a sweep component. When you create a policy component, the appropriate sweep component is created automatically.

About this task

The purpose of this implementation is to optimize sweep efficiency. For example, rather than two policy sweeps independently iterating through the same table, one sweep component iterates through the table on behalf of the two policies. The sweep component passes objects from the table to the two policy components for policy-specific handling.

Procedure

To open the sweep for a policy:

  1. Expand the appropriate folder in the administration console:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, expand the Sweep Management > Sweep Policies folder.
    3. Expand the appropriate subfolder for the policy. For example, for a content migration policy, expand the Content Migration Policies folder.
  2. Click the policy. A tab for the policy opens in the details pane.
  3. On the policy tab, look at the Policy-controlled sweep property for the name of the sweep. For example, the name of the sweep might be Document.
  4. In the object store navigation pane, expand the Sweep Management > Policy-Controlled Sweeps folder.
  5. Under the folder, click the sweep. For example, click the Document sweep.
