Updating retention by creating a policy sweep

You can create a policy sweep to update object retention.

Procedure

To create a retention update policy:

  1. Select and copy a reference to the class of objects that are to be targeted by the sweep:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, select the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, select the Data Design > Classes > specific class folder. Click the class, go to Action, and select Copy Object Reference.
  2. In the object store navigation pane, select the Sweep Management > Sweep Policies > Retention Update Policies folder. On the Retention Update Policies tab, click New.
  3. Optional: Select the Enabled property to enable the sweep. (The sweep cannot run unless it is enabled.) You might want to enable the sweep later, however, because some sweep properties can be set only after sweep creation. In particular, the property that affects sweep performance by determining when sweep conditions are evaluated can be set only after sweep creation.
  4. Complete the wizard. In the wizard step where you specify the target class, click Paste Object.
