Preparing to install

To prepare for installation, ensure that IBM® Integration Bus is installed and choose the components in IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack that you want to install.

To prepare to install IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack, complete the following steps:

  1. Check the hardware and software requirements, see IBM Integration Bus system requirements.
  2. Ensure that you have the most current information about IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack, see Finding the latest information for IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack.
  3. Ensure that you can access the installer for IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack. You can access the installer either from Passport Advantage® or from the product DVD; see Accessing the installer.
  4. Ensure that you installed the appropriate version of IBM Integration Bus. To install IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack components, you must install either the Integration Bus component or the IBM Integration Toolkit.

  5. Start of changeIf you have an existing IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack installation, to find out whether you must uninstall the existing IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack installation, see Coexistence and migration.End of change
  6. Ensure that you can access the installer for IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack. You can access the installer either from the Passport Advantage website, or from the product DVD. For more information, see Accessing the installer.
  7. Decide which components to install.
    The following IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack components are available on Windows and Linux:
    • Patterns, Nodes, and Libraries in the IBM Integration Toolkit: This option installs the IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack patterns, nodes, and libraries.
    • Web-based Monitoring: This option installs the components that you require to run operational monitoring by using a web user interface. For a list of patterns that you can monitor by using web-based monitoring, see Web-based monitoring.
    • Operational Monitoring in the IBM Integration Explorer: This option installs the components that you require to run operational monitoring by using IBM Integration Explorer.
    • Medical Device Integration: This option installs the node and drivers that you require to integrate IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack with your medical devices.

    If you are installing on a different platform, the installer contains the Web-based Monitoring component only.

  8. Check that your user ID has the required authority to complete the installation:
    • Windows
platformOn Windows, your user ID must be a member of the group Administrators, but you cannot use the ID Administrator.
    • Linux platformOn Linux, use either the user ID root, or use another ID and become root.
    • UNIX platformOn UNIX, use either the user ID root, or use another ID with root permission.
Results:

You are ready to install IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack.
