Intended use of IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack

IBM Integration Bus Healthcare Pack (the Program) is capable of being used as a medical device data system to transfer, store, and convert data from one format to another, and may occasionally transmit data to bedside medical devices (for example, for polling and telemetry).

However IBM grants no license for any of the following uses of the Program, which are all prohibited under this license:
  • Use to control any bedside medical device for clinical or treatment purposes (for example, but without limitation, the administration of medication, anesthetics, saline solutions and the like).
  • Use for active patient monitoring (that is, where the Program is used as the sole means of monitoring life-critical patient data, for example, heart rates).
  • Use for decision support (that is, where the Program is used as the sole means to determine patient-specific treatment or immediate clinical action).
  • Use in any active monitoring that depends on the timeliness of data transmission.
IBM is not responsible for any additional regulatory clearance that may be required for any such use. Even if IBM separately agrees to extend the scope of the license to allow any such use, the Licensee must comply with any associated regulatory requirement.
