Changing the function level of your broker

You can change the function level of your broker to enable the use of message flow nodes that are supplied in the latest fix pack.

When a fix pack is delivered, it might include new message flow nodes that you can add to your message flows to provide specific functions.

For Version 9.0.0.0, the function level of new brokers is set to a default value that is equivalent to the value 9.0.0.0. At this level, message flow nodes that are added by later fix packs are not supported by the broker.

Message flow nodes that are added in later fix packs are available in the IBM® Integration Toolkit, and you can include these nodes in a message flow. You can deploy the message flow to a broker only if you set the function level of that broker to the value that represents the fix pack in which the message flow nodes are included.

Because you can control the function level of each broker, you can try out new message flow nodes on test brokers without affecting the operation of your production broker. When you are satisfied that the message flow nodes provide the function that you require, and work as you expect, you can set the function level of other brokers in your domain, when appropriate.

To change the function level of a broker, use the mqsichangebroker command, specifying the -f flag with the appropriate value; for example:
mqsichangebroker IIB_BROKER -f all
where IIB_BROKER is the name of the broker where you want to use new function.

For more information about message flow nodes added in fix packs, and the use of the mqsichangebroker command, see mqsichangebroker command.
