Restrictions that apply in each operation mode

The operation mode in which your integration node is working defines how many integration servers you can use, and which message flow nodes are available.

Developer mode

All features are enabled for an unlimited time, but you can use the product for evaluation purposes only (within the terms of the license). IBM® Integration Bus for Developers, which is also known as Developer Edition, is available on Windows x86-64 and Linux® x86-64 operating systems only.

Developer Edition is restricted to processing one message per second. For more information, see Operation modes.

Standard mode

All features are enabled. You can create one integration server, but the number of message flows that you can deploy is unlimited.

Express mode

The functions that are enabled are limited, and you can create only one integration server.

The following message flow nodes can be used in Express mode (plug-in nodes are also supported):

Scale mode

There is no limit to the number of integration servers that you can create in Scale mode, but the available message flow nodes are limited.

Plugin nodes can be used in Scale mode. The following message flow nodes can be used in Scale mode:

  1. A separate license for adapters is required before you can use the WebSphere Adapters nodes in Scale mode.

Remote Adapter Deployment mode

Only adapter-related features are enabled in Adapter mode, and the types of message flow node that you can use, and the number of integration servers that you can create, are limited. You can create up to two integration servers, with no limit on the number of deployed message flows in each of these integration servers.

The following message flow nodes can be used in Adapter mode (plug-in nodes are also supported):

Advanced mode

All features are enabled apart from the SalesforceRequest node, and there is no limit to the number of integration servers or the number of message flows deployed to each integration server.

Application Integration Suite mode

All features are enabled, including the SalesforceRequest node. There is no limit to the number of integration servers or the number of message flows deployed to each integration server. If you want to set up a full integration node environment that uses the SalesforceRequest node, your integration nodes must operate in this mode, and you therefore require the Application Integration Suite license.
