(Optional) preliminary steps for establishing VSAM RLS
Your team can configure PKI Services to take advantage of a Parallel Sysplex® environment. This enables you to start multiple instances of the PKI Services daemon (one per image) that work in unison. The daemons are totally independent of each other, but they all act upon a single common data store containing the ICL and object store VSAM data sets.
If you want to run multiple instances of PKI Services in a Parallel Sysplex (one per image), you must first establish the data sharing environment suitable for VSAM record-level sharing (RLS).
Before you begin
The following steps assume that the coupling facility is already set up. If not, see z/OS MVS Programming: Sysplex Services Guide for information about how to set up the coupling facility. Also, see (Optional) steps for enabling existing data sets for VSAM RLS for additional information about setting up VSAM data sets to run PKI Services in a sysplex.Procedure
- Define and activate at least two sharing control data sets (SHCDS)
and one spare SHCDS for recovery purposes.

- Define CF lock structure to MVS™.

- Define CF lock structure in the SMS base configuration.

- Define at least one storage class for VSAM record-level sharing
(RLS). You must record the name of this storage class for use in creating the VSAM data sets for PKI Services.
