MPL adjustment control
The OPT provides keywords to specify upper and lower thresholds for the variables that SRM uses to determine if it should increase, decrease, or leave the MPL unchanged. When one of these variables exceeds its threshold value, SRM regards this change as a signal to adjust the MPL. Table 1 summarizes the internal names for the control variables, their thresholds, and conditions that can influence a change.
Control variable and internal name | Thresholds that can influence an MPL change: | Keyword in OPT | |
---|---|---|---|
decrease | increase | ||
CPU utilization (RCVCPUA) | >RCCCPUTH | <RCCCPUTL | RCCCPUT |
Page fault rate (RCVPTR) | >RCCPTRTH | <RCCPTRTL | RCCPTRT (see note) |
UIC (RCVUICA) | <RCCUICTL | >RCCUICTH | RCCUICT |
Percentage of online storage fixed (RCVFXIOP) | >RCCFXTTH | <RCCFXTTL | RCCFXTT |
Percentage of storage that is fixed within the first 16 megabytes (RCVMFXA) | >RCCFXETH | <RCCFXETL | RCCFXET |
Note: The
default thresholds for this keyword causes the corresponding control
variable to have no effect on MPL adjustment.
