To remove from the catalog the entry describing a non-VSAM or non-system-managed data set, or a data set on a system-managed volume, code UNCATLG as the disposition. Specifying UNCATLG does not delete the data set; only the reference in the catalog is removed. If you request the data set in a later job or step, the DD statement must specify volume information. Note that you cannot use JCL to uncatalog system-managed DASD data sets.
