Changes in z/OS V2R2

The summary of changes that are made to z/OS Version 2 Release 2 (V2R2) Planning for Installation, as updated September 2015, in support of z/OS® Version 2 Release 2 (V2R2).

This document contains information that is previously presented in GA32-0890-02, which supports z/OS Version 2 Release 1 (V2R1).

New server: z/OS V2R2 can run on the IBM® z Systems™ z13™ server.

New base elements: The following base elements are new in z/OS V2R2:
  • IBM HTTP Server powered by Apache
  • IBM Knowledge Center for z/OS
  • IBM z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF)
  • z/OS OpenSSH

Deleted base element: IBM HTTP Server (powered by Domino®) is removed in z/OS V2R2; it is replaced by IBM HTTP Server powered by Apache, which is new in z/OS V2R2.

Deleted optional features: The optional feature BookManager/Build is deleted in z/OS V2R2. This feature includes the following FMIDs: HBKP300, JBKP310 (English), JBKP311 (French), JBKP312 (German), JBKP313 (Spanish), JBKP314 (Brazilian Portuguese), JBKP315 (Canadian French).

Changes to driving system requirements:
  • The minimum driving system level for installing z/OS V2R2 is z/OS V1R13. (For installing z/OS V2R1, it was z/OS V1R12.)
  • ServerPac and SystemPac now support extended format and extended addressability for zFS data sets.
  • The Customized Offerings Driver (5751-COD) is shipped as zFS file systems instead of HFS file systems.
