Specifies the number of seconds that VTAM® will wait for a response after the channel is activated.
The TIMER operand is used for control-type commands. Data commands are timed by the link protocol. However, some control commands are also timed at the link level. As a result, a restriction exists: the calculation of the reply timer multiplied by one plus the number of retransmissions should be less than the value coded for TIMER.
