Starting with z/OS® V2R1 the maximum notepad size in the WLM service definition has increased from 500 to 1000 lines. If you plan to use more than 500 lines of notepad information for your WLM service definition, you need to re-allocate the WLM couple data set.
Before you install a service definition with more than 500 lines of notepad information on z/OS V2R1, perform the following steps:
Note that by using z/OS V2R1 to allocate your WLM couple data set, the allocated space will be sufficient for the increased notepad size. Ensure that the values provided for number of policies, workloads, and service classes are the current values because these values will be used by WLM to calculate the space required. Specifying higher values to allow for growth is acceptable.
WLM couple data set is too small to hold the service definition.
Install failed, service definition is not valid.
Validation reason code: 2903,
Validation offset: 0.
where validation reason code 2903 means “Number of notepad entries (SVNPANPN) exceeds the maximum number allowed (500)”.
If the IWMDINST service is used for policy installation and the WLM couple data set is too small to hold the notepad information, it returns RC 8 with Reason Code xxxx083D and VALCHECK_RSN xxxx2903.
To resolve this issue, allocate and activate a new, larger WLM couple data set.
