Defining work qualifiers

The name field for work qualifiers is 8 characters long. You can use nesting for the work qualifiers that run longer than 8 characters. These are the following: See Organizing work for classification for how to nest using the start position.

You can use masking and wild card notation to group qualifiers that share a common substring. For Start of changework qualifiers that run longer than 8 charactersEnd of change, you can use a start position to indicate how far to index into the character string. When no start parameter is specified, WLM matches the name field for Start of changework qualifiers that run longer than 8 charactersEnd of change according to the number of characters specified. Start of changeSee Organizing work for classification for details on how WLM matches the name field for work qualifiers.End of change

Table 1 shows which work qualifiers are supported by each IBM-defined subsystem.
