Explanation
M indicates that the volume is to be mounted on
the device, so that a data set can be scratched or renamed.

The device number of the specified device.
ser
The volume serial number.

The job name.
sss
The step name.

System action
The system waits for the operator to reply.

Operator response
If the volume can be mounted, enter REPLY
xx,‘U’. Then mount the volume and ready the device.
If
the volume cannot be mounted but the job step is to continue, enter
REPLY xx,‘M’. The system will skip the Scratch or Rename
function on this volume.
If the volume cannot be mounted, and
the job must not continue unless the data set is scratched or renamed,
or unless the volume is scratched, end the job step.
