To assign a volume to a reserve storage pool, you initialize the
volume using the ICKDSF INIT command with these parameters:
A volume that has been initialized as reserved is not to be confused with a device for which a system issues a hardware RESERVE, either through the RESERVE or ISGENQ macros, to ensure successful serialization of shared DASD.
