Installing security labels in ACS routines

z/OS DFSMSdfp Storage Administration
SC23-6860-01

Perform the following steps to implement security labels in ACS routines:

  1. Create the security label and give users access to it. For more information, see Creating a security label in the RACF data set or user's profile.

    _______________________________________________________________

  2. Specify the DD SECMODEL or DD PROTECT=YES parameter in the JCL or dynamic allocation to extract the security label from the RACF® user's profile. Otherwise, the security label is extracted from the data set profile. For more information, see Using JCL or dynamic allocation to extract the security label from the RACF user's profile.

    _______________________________________________________________

  3. Update the storage group ACS routine with the &SECLABL read-only variable.

    _______________________________________________________________

  4. Use the ISMF ACS Test Case Define/Alter application to test the security labels in the storage group ACS routines. For more information, see Writing ACS test cases using SECLABEL.

    _______________________________________________________________

  5. Validate and activate the SCDS.
    1. Select option 8 from the ISMF Primary Option Menu for Storage Administrators, to invoke the Control Data Set (CDS) Application Selection panel on ISMF.
    2. Specify the name of the SCDS to validate in the CDS NAME field.
    3. Select option 4, Validate the SCDS.

    _______________________________________________________________

Now you are ready to use security labels in storage group ACS routines to segregate different types of data.
