z/OS DFSMS OAM Planning, Installation, and Storage Administration Guide for Object Support

If the environmental descriptor management (EDM) function pool size is not large enough for the databases, DB2 errors are received. The following is suggested for EDM pool size: 
EDM POOL      9␠000    (20 storage groups)
EDM POOL     20␠000   (100 storage groups)
