DFSMSdss treats each data set and its associated information as a logical entity during logical processing. DFSMSdss processes an entire data set before beginning the next one. DFSMSdss moves each data set as a set of data records, allowing data movement between devices with different track and cylinder configurations. DFSMSdss uses the catalog and the VTOCs to select data sets for logical processing.
