Preparing for checkpoint reconfiguration

z/OS JES2 Initialization and Tuning Guide
SA32-0991-00

Depending on whether you maintain your checkpoint on a coupling facility structure or DASD, there are a few steps you should take to ease an unplanned checkpoint reconfiguration.

Becoming involved in a checkpoint reconfiguration can have serious consequences if you do not understand the implications of the choices JES2 presents though the dialog messages. Be certain you and your staff understand the definitions and the concepts explained in this topic. (The checkpoint dialog messages and the options they present are fully explained in z/OS JES2 Messages as well.)

Attention: Use a non-production JES2 MAS to test your reconfiguration dialog and establish your recovery procedures. JES2 automatically enters a checkpoint reconfiguration if a checkpoint I/O error occurs.
