z/OS Communications Server: IP Messages Volume 1 (EZA)
SC27-3654-00

Type of Service: Precedence = precedence, performance_emphasis, *** garbage in reserved bits = incorrect_data

Explanation

These messages indicate the type of service being delivered by an IP datagram, the precedence value, and the performance emphasis. The performance emphasis can be either low delay, high throughput, or high reliability. The message “garbage in reserved bits” is displayed only if incorrect data is encountered in a reserved field of the IP header. The data will be ignored.

Note: This message displays the virtual machine communication facility (VMCF) function call returned by the function SayVmcFu, which is called to determine the type of a VMCF function call. For more information about VMCF function calls, see the z/OS Communications Server: IP Programmer's Guide and Reference.
