PROTOCOL: lmodetype = lmodetype linemode = linemode useline useline
Explanation

lmodetype signifies whether the client handle
real linemode or if use of kludgelinemode is needed.  It will be set
to one of the following: 
0x04 REAL-LINEMODE - use the linemode option
0x03 KLUDGE-OK
0x02 NO-AUTOKLUDGE
0x01 KLUDGE-LINMEODE - use kludge linemode
0x00 NO-LINMODE - client is ignorant of linemode

linemode is true if linemode is currently
on.

uselinemode is the state that we wish to
be in.
