The z/OS shell is shipped with the sticky bit set on, which reduces I/O and improves performance. Check to see that the sticky bit is still on by issuing:

ls -l /bin/sh

The first part of the output should be:

-rwxr-xr-t

The t indicates that the sticky bit is on.
