CREATE: Creating a new control data set record z/OS DFSMShsm Diagnosis GC52-1387-00 |
|
Explanation: CREATE(offset data) is an optional parameter specifying that you want to create a new data set. The LENGTH parameter controls the size of the record to be created. For offset, substitute a decimal number for the offset where you want the data inserted. The number you specify can be any number from zero up to a number equal to the length of your CDS record. You specify the data for the variable portion of the record. The FIXCDS command automatically creates the key and header portions of the record. For data, substitute hexadecimal characters or alphameric characters and $, #, or @ to be inserted into the new record. You cannot specify more than 256 bytes (512 hexadecimal digits), and you should specify an even number of hexadecimal digits. If you specify an odd number of hexadecimal digits, DFSMShsm inserts a zero to the left of the value to make it an even number. Hexadecimal characters must be in the form X'n'. The new record contains all zeros after the header field, unless you supply data. Abbreviations: None. Defaults: If you do not specify one of the optional parameters of FIXCDS, the default is DISPLAY. Note:
