You can change the naming conventions for the backup data sets
by performing the following steps:
Issue the SETSYS CDSVERSIONBACKUP command using the subparameter
for the data set names assigned to the backup data sets. Specify the
new naming convention used to back up the control data sets.
Rule: You must change the naming convention
for the backup data sets in all procedures that DFSMShsm uses. For
example, update the ARCCMDxx member of the
DFSMShsm startup procedure if you have specified the SETSYS CDSVERSIONBACKUP
command.
Rename any current backup versions of the control data sets to
the new naming convention if the backup data sets are on DASD. Also,
you must rename any “unused” backup versions.
Uncatalog the old backup data sets so the tape management function
can reuse the tape if the backup data sets are on tape. During backup
of the control data set, you might receive message ARC0747I, which
indicates DFSMShsm could not uncatalog the oldest version using the
new backup names. The tape backup copies are successfully made.
