Service addresses

A service address can represent the location of one or more assets or physical locations for a customer.

When field crews are directed to an asset, a service address identifies the location of the asset and informs the crew how to navigate to it. The service address contains detailed location information. This information helps you to assign the correct resources when you provide service or support for an asset or a location.

When you create work for a location or an asset, the service address is copied to the service request or the work order. If the asset or location does not have an associated service address, you can use the service address of the closest ancestor in the address hierarchy.

If a work order or a service request has a service address and an asset or location is added where the address does not match, you can inherit the address from the asset or location.

When an asset is added to a work order or service request that has an address, you can use the address from the asset or location.

Service addresses provide an additional way to find assets and locations, or groups of assets and locations.

Information in service addresses

Each service address has an address code. Address codes are unique to an organization, and can be available to all locations at all sites in an organization.

Service addresses can contain general or detailed location information. For example, a service address for an asset might not be exact, especially in remote areas. However, the service address is typically precise enough so that it can direct a repair crew to that location. This information is useful for crews that work in remote locations, where a point of reference might be difficult to describe.

Here are some examples of service address details:
  • 300 feet behind large red outbuilding
  • Mile marker 584
  • X coordinate 44.4545445 and Y coordinate -78.56456456

Spatial scheduling travel time

You can automatically calculate the travel time between service addresses using your map provider. In the Graphical Assignment application, from the Select Action menu, choose Populate Destination Travel Time Matrix. The values appear in the Service Addresses application. Values calculated by your map provider are regularly updated and removed from the matrix. You must repeat the process to repopulate the travel times.

You can manually enter travel time between service addresses in the Service Addresses application, using the Spatial Scheduling Travel Time option from the Select Action menu. Values that you enter manually are saved indefinitely
