Setting up a stand-alone server on z/OS

After you have prepared the operating system you are ready to install WebSphere Portal.

Select the operating system on which you are installing WebSphere Portal.
  1. Configuring a base portal into a base node
    Perform this task during installation when you configure a base portal into a base application server node. You also perform this task if installing a portal practice runtime. This option configures a base portal into a base IBM® WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS® node. This is supported with Apache Derby as the underlying database, which can be later transferred to IBM DB2 Universal Database™ for z/OS. It will give you a working base portal.
  2. Stand-alone server: Verifying your RACF security settings
    Review the WebSphere configuration information to verify that all values on the Customization Panels are correct, particularly the port values. You should also review the type of security that was specified during the zPMT configuration.

    Before transferring default data to the production database server, you need to prepare the database server. Database preparation includes creating user IDs and databases. For this installation path, stand-alone production server, remote databases servers are used.

    Install and configure the web server plug-in, provided by IBM WebSphere Application Server to set up your web server to communicate with IBM WebSphere Portal.
