The base z/OS® environment
and all of the subsystems associated with z/OS must be able to
support your IBM® WebSphere® Portal installation.
This topic provides information on prerequisite products and z/OS subsystem prerequisites
with which you must comply before installation.

Complete the following steps to prepare the z/OS operating system:Procedure
- Ensure that you comply with all hardware and software requirements.
- Ensure that your WebSphere Application
Server instance is installed
at the supported level and has the following features installed:
Important: Besides ensuring that the existing
WebSphere Application
Server instance is at
the supported level, you will also need to ensure that
Apache Derby is installed
at the supported level before installing
WebSphere Portal. See
WebSphere Portal detailed
system requirements for supported levels.
- Application Server
- Administration
- Scripted Administration
- WebSphere Integrated Solutions Console
- Ant and Deployment Tools
- Deploy Tool
- Ant Utilities
- Ensure that all subsystems, such as Resource Recovery Services
(RRS), are set up to your environment requirements for the portal
installation.
- Comply with preinstallation security considerations; for
example, verify your security setup on WebSphere Application
Server for z/OS. This can
be performed either before or after the SMP/E installation of the
code.
- Ensure Java Database Connectivity requirements are met.
