Preparing additional cluster members on IBM i

After installing and configuring your primary node, you can create your additional cluster nodes. You must install IBM® WebSphere® Portal on each node and then configure the node to access the database and user registry before adding it to the cluster.

About this task

Complete the following tasks to prepare your additional cluster node:
  1. Installing WebSphere Portal on IBM i for the horizontal cluster nodes
    Install IBM WebSphere Portal on your additional cluster nodes to create a highly available and scalable environment. On additional nodes, you only need to install the WebSphere Portal product binary files. The WebSphere Portal application server and applications are added after the node is federated and a new cluster member is created.
  2. Adding horizontal nodes to the cluster on IBM i
    After installing IBM WebSphere Portal for your horizontal cluster node, you must add the node to the cluster to create a highly available environment.
  3. Optional: Adding vertical cluster members to a static cluster on IBM i
    You can add vertical cluster members to share the workload demands of your cluster across multiple members running on the same physical machine.
