When TEXT and BYTE data is scanned, not compressed

The Informix® database server scans TEXT and BYTE data into an existing table when you load data by using the SQL LOAD statement, the dbload utility, the Informix ESQL/C program, the HPL, or external tables.

Informix database servers do not have any mechanisms for compressing TEXT and BYTE data after the data has been scanned into a database.
