Appendix A. NetView generic-alert vectors

IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS supports transmission of a generic alert to NetView®, using the NetView program-to-program interface (PPI). The action is requested via the GENALERTS keyword of the ALERTS initialization statement.

A generic alert follows a predefined SNA format. It is transported in a network management vector transport (NMVT). An NMVT consists of several subvectors, each of which carries a specific data type. All IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS alerts contain the product-set-ID subvector, the time subvector, and at least one of the user, install, or failure subvectors. The following tables describe each alert type. The product-set-ID and time subvectors are common to all alerts, so they are not included in the following descriptions.

Refer to SNA Formats for more information about generic alert architecture.
