Snapshot consolidation is required when a snapshot is deleted but its associated disk is not committed back to the base disk. If consolidation is not completed, snapshot disks might grow and eventually fill the data store.
The virtual machine backup continues.
Consolidate the virtual machine snapshots according to instructions provided in the appropriate VMware vSphere documentation.
