Explanation
Follow all of these rules when choosing a database
name or alias:
- Character strings that represent names of a database can contain
any of the following characters: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, @, #, and $.
- A database name or alias must be unique in the database instance.
- A database name or alias is one to eight characters in length.
- The first character of the name must be an alphabetic character,
or a @, a #, or a $ character.
- The first three characters of the name cannot be any of the following
strings: SYS, DBM, or IBM®.
