Getting started with the CICS IA plug-in
Before you can work with CICS® Interdependency Analyzer (CICS IA) you must connect to your CICS systems. You can then analyze the data captured by the Collector.
- Overview
The CICS IA plug-in provides an Eclipse-based infrastructure to identify CICS application resources and their interdependencies, and to analyze transaction affinities. - The CICS IA perspective
The CICS IA plug-in consists of the CICS IA perspective and views. - Configuring a CICS IA system connection
Before you can view any information, you must establish a connection between the CICS IA plug-in and the DB2® database where the CICS IA Collector stores its data. You must enter the information to connect to the DB2 database and associate the connection with a credential to authenticate that connection. - Configuring a CICS IA Collector connection
Before you can work with collectors, you must have an IA Collector connection configured. The CICS IA Collector places details about interactions between CICS programs and resources in a set of DB2 tables. - Selecting additional resource types
The CICS IA plug-in can download data about DB2, IMS™ or MQ resource types. You can select what types to include by using the CICS Interdependency Analyzer pane in the Preferences window. - Configuring a Rational Asset Analyzer connection
Optionally, you can configure a Rational® Asset Analyzer (RAA®) connection to show RAA details about a resource in an external web browser. - Migration from previous versions
The CICS IA plug-in Version 3.2 can connect to an IA Version 3.1 database, but some features are not supported. Queries can be migrated from Version 3.1 to Version 3.2, and from Version 2.2 to Version 3.1 - CICS resources
Resources are displayed in several places in the CICS IA plug-in. You can locate and view these resources in several ways. - Integration
You can use aspects of the CICS IA plug-in to interrogate data using the CICS Explorer® perspective.
