Cloud Explorer view

The Cloud Explorer view shows a list of applications that are defined in CICS® TS Version 5.1 or later and known to CICS IA.

If you are connected to a CICS IA Version 5.2 database, applications are grouped by platform. You can expand a platform name to view the applications and operations in that platform. The version of each application is also displayed.

If you are connected to an earlier version database, the Cloud Explorer view shows a list of applications and operations.

You can use the Cloud Explorer view for the following functions:

Show the regions, applications, transactions, or programs where the currently selected platform is used.
Show the resources associated with the currently selected platform, application, or operation.
Display a visual representation of platforms or applications.
Delete data associated with the currently selected platform, application, or operation.

You can use the Platform and Application fields in the toolbar of the view to filter the list by platform or application name, respectively. You can use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard. To apply the filters set in these fields, press Enter. In the example screen capture, the filter G* is used and the GENAPP_PLATFORM platform is displayed.

To see the regions, applications, transactions, or programs where a platform is used, right-click the platform name then click the appropriate Used By menu option.

If you select Used by Applications, click All Platforms to search across all platforms, or click Specific Platform then select the required platform from the resulting dialog. If you select Used by Programs or Used by Transactions, click All Regions to search across all regions, or click Specific Region then select the required CICS region from the resulting dialog.

To display a visual representation of platforms, right-click a platform name, click Visualization, then click All Platforms, or Selected Platform, as required. To display a visual representation of applications, right-click an application name, click Visualization, then click All Applications, or Selected Application, as required. The results are displayed in the Resource Visualization view.

To delete data associated with the currently selected platform, application, or operation, right-click the platform, application, or operation name, then click Delete associated data. The resulting dialog shows the name of the platform, application, or operation so that you can confirm the selection. Click Yes to continue with the deletion. The data is deleted and the results are displayed in the view. For example, if you delete a platform, all applications and operations in that platform are deleted.

To show the resources associated with a platform, application, or operation, right-click the platform, application, or operation name. Either click Show All Resources or click Show, then the required resource type. You can choose CICS, DB2®, WebSphere® MQ, IMS™, or Natural resource types. The results are displayed in the Show Resources view.

To view earlier applications, you use the Applications view. This view lists applications that were defined in CICS TS versions earlier than CICS TS Version 5.1 and that were collected by using CICS IA Version 3.2 or earlier.
