Tuning the Java Virtual
Machine (JVM) for IBM
FileNet P8 components
Consider tuning the application server Java™ Virtual Machine (JVM) when you want to
improve the performance of IBM®
FileNet® P8 components.
Important: If you adjust any parameter, you must restart
the Java Virtual Machine for the parameter to take effect.
Improving response times and CPU utilization
To improve overall throughput, consider implementing a
generational garbage collection strategy, which is also known as a
“generational concurrent garbage collection”
Tuning the JVM heap size
The Java Virtual Machine
(JVM) heap is a repository of active objects, inactive objects, and
free memory. When the JVM heap runs out of memory, all processing
in the JVM stops until garbage collection completes.
Improving the speed of a Workplace logon
By default, secure sockets layer (SSL) connections to lightweight
directory access protocol (LDAP) servers are not pooled in the application
server Java Virtual Machine
(JVM). Non-pooled SSL connections can adversely affect the speed of
a Workplace logon
when Content Platform Engine is
configured for SSL.
