Creating or updating an export manifest

The export manifest lists the assets that you want to export from the object store or a workflow system of a source environment. After you create an export manifest, you can add assets to it and specify which referenced objects to include with each asset by specifying the include options of the asset. You can also refresh an export manifest to remove assets that were deleted or update assets names that were changed since the manifest was first created.

Each export manifest can contain assets from a single object store and a single isolated region. After you create an export manifest, you can use it to create a deployment data set. For more information, see Create deployment data set.

FileNet® Deployment Manager include options control individual assets or objects.

When you create an export manifest, it remains empty until you add one or more assets to it. For more information about adding assets, see Add assets to an export manifest. To add the assets to the export manifest, FileNet Deployment Manager includes a browse feature to navigate to object instances in the source object store. For the object instances that you want to export, you must know their locations within the source environment. For filed objects, typically the parent folder is selected and the export include options are used to export all contained objects and subfolders. For unfiled objects, FileNet Deployment Manager includes a virtual navigation path that uses the Unfiled Documents and Uncontained Objects nodes in the navigation tree for the assets. Additionally, FileNet Deployment Manager includes a feature to add assets by using an SQL query.

After you add assets to an export manifest, you can view them in the export manifest viewer. The export manifest lists the information of each asset in the following columns:
  • Name: The display name of the asset.
  • Category: The type of asset (ChoiceList, Document, Folder, or other assets).
  • Object Store: The object store to which the asset belongs.
  • ID: The object ID (GUID) of the asset.
  • Include Options: The include options of an asset are options that you can specify to which associated objects of an asset to include in the export manifest. When you place your cursor over an include options field, a pop-up display lists the include options that you specified for that asset. For more information about include options, see Specify the include options of an asset.
You can update the appearance of the assets in an export manifest as follows:
  • Sort the data in a column: Click a column header to sort the data in its column.
  • Drag-and-drop a column to a new location: You can move any column in the export manifest to a new location. Click the column header of the column you want to move and, while you hold down the mouse button, drag the column to a new location.
