Object conversion

The convert operation uses the deployment data set and the data maps to convert the source environment objects with information that is specific to the destination environment. The operation converts object store and workflow systems data.

A successful conversion does not always indicate a successful import to the destination environment. An unsuccessful import can occur if there is a substantial time gap between running the conversion and import operations. This gap increases the likelihood that the converted deployment data set no longer reflects the ever-changing state of the destination environment, resulting in a failed import attempt.

To avoid this problem, run the Change Impact Analysis operation on the converted deployment data set before the import operation. Change impact analysis is an information-only operation that reports on the potential import errors in the destination environment, without modifying the destination environment. Because change impact analysis connects to the destination environment to validate the converted deployment data set, it detects problems in the data set that result from a modified destination environment.
