Deployment environment definition

A deployment environment consists of source and destination environment definitions and uses a source-destination pair to map objects for a specific deployment.

  • Source environment definition

Identifies the data that is intended for export: global configuration data, object store data, or workflow system data.

You retrieve (extract) these objects and data from the source environment. The retrieved information is stored in the half maps that are created for the source environment. From the objects and data, information that might require conversion before the objects are imported can be retrieved. You retrieve information that can be used for the conversion process directly from the system, or by extracting it from a deployment data set.

  • Destination environment definition

Identifies the data that currently exists in the destination environment: Content Platform Engine object stores, the Content Platform Engine and workflow systems service data, and the Content Platform Engine and workflow systems users or groups that have permissions to the objects.

You retrieve information that can be used in the conversion process directly from the destination system or for service data, from the source environment half map. From the objects and data, information that might require conversion before the objects are imported can be retrieved. You retrieve (extract) these objects and data from the destination environment. The retrieved information is stored in the half maps created for the destination environment.

  • Source-destination pair

Identifies the source and destination environments for a specific deployment, and maps the corresponding object store, service, connection point, and principal data.
