Deployment Topology

Use this page to add nodes in a deployment environments and to assign nodes to the functional areas within a deployment environment based on an IBM-supplied pattern. You can also remove nodes from the deployment environment definition. The panel enforces any functional constraints you define to prevent configuration errors caused by insufficient resources for a specific function.

Security role required: Your user ID must be associated with either the CellAdmin role or DeAdmin role to use this page.

To view this administrative console page, click Servers > Deployment Environments > Deployment environment name > Additional Properties > Deployment Topology.

The table contains the following control and information.

Reset
Resets the configuration settings for the nodes.

If you change the number of cluster members for selected nodes and later decide that you want to revert to the original number, click Reset.

Remove
Removes rows for selected nodes from the table, if removing the nodes does not violate any of the constraints that you placed on the deployment environment.
Select
Selects a node and the row it appears in.
Add Nodes
From the pull-down list, select a node that you want to add to the deployment environment configuration and then click Add. The node will be added to the table. If an initial port value was specified when the deployment environment was created, this value will be used for the node.
Note: The list displays nodes currently managed by the deployment manager. If you add a new node and want to view it in the node list, make sure that you create and federate the node into the deployment manager.
Node
The node name.
Status
An icon that represents the status of the specified node.
Cluster Status
An icon that represents the status of a cluster in an associated function column. If there are multiple nodes in the cluster, the cluster status represents the overall status of all of these nodes.
Version
The actual version of the installed product.
Host
The domain name or IP address of the host on which the node is located.
Application Deployment Target
Specifies the number of cluster members on this node that must be configured for this function. By default, this number is set to 1, but you can set this higher if you require additional processing resources. To add additional cluster members to the function, increase the number. To remove cluster members from the function, decrease the number. Although the specified number can be 0 (zero) or higher, a number must be specified. The text field cannot be left blank. Remember that each node generates a virtual machine that will use up resources.
Note: Although the Application Deployment Target function is displayed in a table column for both one-cluster and three-cluster environments, the Messaging Infrastructure function and Supporting Infrastructure function table columns are only displayed for three-cluster environments.
Messaging Infrastructure
Supporting Infrastructure
