Migrating generated Java EE staging projects

When you import a project interchange file that contains modules from a previous version of Integration Designer or WebSphere Integration Developer, a migration wizard is automatically launched in IBM® Integration Designer V8.5.6. If the project interchange file contains any generated Java Platform, Enterprise Edition staging projects (such as EJB, Web, or App projects), the migration wizard contains a page to help you migrate the projects.

Before you begin

When you are preparing previous version Integration Designer or WebSphere Integration Developer modules for migration to IBM Integration Designer V8.5.6, it is recommended that you do not include any custom artifacts in the generated Java EE staging projects. If you adhere to the recommendation, you do not need to include any generated Java EE staging projects in your project interchange file.

About this task

If your imported project interchange file contains any generated Java EE staging projects, they are automatically deleted and regenerated again during the migration process. (If your project interchange file does not contain any generated Java EE staging projects, required Java EE staging projects are automatically generated during migration.)

Procedure

  1. Import the project interchange file that contains your modules and Java EE staging projects. The Workspace Migration wizard opens to the Workspace Migration page.
  2. Click Next. In the Review the Java EE Staging Projects page, review the list of Java EE staging projects in the tree area.
  3. Complete one of the following steps:
    • If your Java EE staging projects do not contain any custom artifacts or if they contain custom artifacts that can be safely deleted along with the Java EE projects because they exist elsewhere (such as a repository), click Next to continue the migration process.
    • If your Java EE staging projects contain any custom artifacts that do not exist elsewhere (such as a repository), click Cancel to exit the wizard and save the custom artifacts to another location, then switch to the Migration Results view and click the Run Migration icon to continue the migration process.

Results

Any required Java EE projects are automatically generated again except for EJB staging projects, which are no longer required by modules in Integration Designer.
