You can create a toolkit dependency, change the version of dependency, and delete a
toolkit dependency in the Designer view.
Before you begin
To create a dependency on a toolkit, one or more snapshots of that toolkit must exist. The
dependency is created on a snapshot and library items only from that toolkit snapshot are available
for reuse.
About this task
When you create a dependency on a toolkit, you can use the library items from that toolkit
for the implementation of your current project. For example, after you create a dependency on a
toolkit that includes services, the Designer view automatically makes those services available when
you choose the implementation of activities. After you create a toolkit dependency, you can change
the version and delete it in the Designer view.
Note: When you change the
toolkit snapshot, items in the application might be affected if the items reference elements that
are not in the new toolkit snapshot. In such cases, you need to add these elements to the new
toolkit snapshot, or modify the items to fix the reference.
When you delete a toolkit dependency,
you must be sure to update any items in the application that reference the toolkit elements. For
example, if a service from the toolkit is the implementation for an activity, the implementation is
missing or broken as soon as you remove the toolkit dependency. Missing implementations are marked
with alert icons in the properties for the affected activity.
Procedure
To create, update, or delete a dependency on a toolkit, complete the following
steps:
- In the Designer view, open the process application or toolkit whose dependencies you want to
modify.
- Follow the required option:
- To create a dependency, click the plus sign next to Toolkits in the
library, and select the snapshot of the toolkit that you want.
- To update or delete a dependency, right-click the toolkit in the library in the desktop
Process Designer, or click the arrow next to the
toolkit dependency in the web Process Designer.
Choose Change Version of Dependency or Remove
Dependency from the pop-up menu, as applicable, and select the snapshot that you
want.
Results
Library items for the specific toolkit snapshot that carries the dependency are now usable
in the dependent toolkit and parent toolkits or process applications. When you expand
Toolkits in the library, you see the toolkit snapshot that you added. You can
click to expand the toolkit to see the library items within it.
