Associating process variables to a tracking group

You can associate process variables to a tracking group in order to track them.

Before you begin

You must create a tracking group to hold the process variable data that you want to track.

To perform this task, you must be in the IBM® Process Designer desktop editor.

About this task

After you create a tracking group, use the following steps to associate process variables with each tracked field in the tracking group.

Procedure

  1. Open the Process Designer desktop editor.
  2. Open the business process definition (BPD) in the Designer view.
  3. Add a tracking event to your BPD.
  4. Select the tracking event and open the Implementation tab.
  5. Click Select and select the tracking group you want to use. For each tracked field defined in the tracking group, you must ensure that there is no other tracked field with the same name but with a different type defined in any other tracking group, either in the same process or in different processes or toolkits. Likewise, you must not change a tracked field type within the same tracking group.
  6. Select the check box of each tracked field you want to use and click the selection icon (The selection icon) to bind a process variable to it.
  7. Save your changes.
  8. Click File > Update Tracking Definitions to send the new tracking information to the Business Performance Data Warehouse.

Results

By updating tracking definitions, you automatically created a view in the Business Performance Data Warehouse database. This new view displays the values of each variable associated to the tracking group.
