Deploying and administering monitor models

Deploy a monitor model and perform various administrative tasks to maintain that model.

To deploy Business Monitor models, you can use either the WebSphere® Application Server administrative console or scripts.

Note: Administrative privileges are required to deploy and uninstall all monitor models. In addition to deploying monitor model applications, other operations that are performed automatically require administrative privileges. Assign the Administrator role to the user who deploys and removes monitor model applications.

Deploying monitor models
You can deploy monitor models using the fast path method or using the detailed method. Use the fast path method if you want to deploy a monitor model with default settings and a minimum amount of monitor model customization. Use the detailed method if you want to modify monitor model settings during the deployment.
Starting and stopping a monitor model
You can use the WebSphere Application Server administrative console to start or stop a version of a deployed monitor model.

Applying library code fixes to monitor model applications
After updating your IBM Business Monitor installation with a fix pack, you must update the individual monitor model applications because they are not updated automatically. To help you update these applications, a script and sample response file are included in the fix pack.
Managing Monitor scheduled services
Because multiple services require recurring or scheduled execution, you can configure and use the Monitor scheduled services to control when and how often you run some services. Use the administrative console to schedule and manage services to run for a particular model.
Configuring model version properties
You can use the WebSphere Application Server administrative console to view the general properties of a specific version of a model as well as its version properties: managing schema, enabling data movement service, managing IBM Cognos® BI cubes, changing the event consumption mode, changing the runtime configuration, viewing the model XML file, purging the model version, and purging and archiving instance data.
Removing monitor models and data
There are several ways to remove a monitor model: uninstalling a version of it, uninstalling it, and purging the model after all versions of it have been removed. There are also several ways to remove the data associated with a model: when the model is uninstalled, or separately either automatically or using a script.
