BPMMigrate command-line utility

The BPMMigrate command-line utility imports the migration snapshot, which includes information about configuration, LTPA keys, performance options, applications, and service integration bus (SIB) messages), from your previous version to your new version. The migration snapshot is taken using the BPMExtractSourceInformation command.

The BPMMigrate utility is in the BPM_home_8.5/bin directory.

Syntax

BPMMigrate -backupFolder snapshot_folder -propertiesFile migration_properties_file

Description

If you are migrating from IBM® Business Process Manager Advanced or WebSphere® Process Server, the BPMMigrate utility performs the following tasks:
  • Stops automatic generation of LTPA keys and applies the LTPA keys from the source environment to the target environment.
  • Installs your applications in the target environment.
  • Syncs the managed nodes.
  • Runs the command to move the SIB messages from the source environment to the target environment.
  • Runs the command to re-create the scheduler tasks.
  • (IBM Business Process Manager Advanced only) Applies the customizations from the 100Custom.xml in the source environment to the configuration objects in the target environment. For information about configuration objects, refer to Configuration objects.
  • Updates the WebSphere Adapters.

If you are migrating from IBM Business Process Manager Standard or WebSphere Lombardi Edition, the BPMMigrate utility applies the customizations from the 100Custom.xml in the source environment to the configuration objects in the target environment.

Required parameters

-backupFolder
Specifies the directory where the information that was extracted by the BPMExtractSourceInformation command is stored.
-propertiesFile
Specifies the full path to the migration properties file in which you specified the configuration information for the target environment. The file is found in BPM_home/util/migration/resources/migration.properties.

You must check all the target properties in this file, and edit them if required.

Problem determination

The log file is in snapshot_folder/logs.
